I always find it so amusing when people speak of algorithms as if they're this pure abstraction where in which everything that is right and good with the nerd world is found. This idea that facial recognition software is unbiased, when that same facial recognition software is most likely trained on data labeled via a mechanical turk (i.e., trained on data that humans with biases label) is nothing short of comical. Facial recognition software, especially that which is produced by companies similar to Taser is what these law enforcement agencies will be using - software pre-trained to view black and brown faces as criminals. But we don't protest what we don't see.
Avoid the cameras. Buy a facial recognition distortion shirt.
